Message of Revered Secretary Maharaj
Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Dhaka, then in East Bengal, is an old and important institution of the Ramakrishna Order, which came into existence in the second decade of the twentieth century. Swami Vivekananda visited Dhaka in 1901. Inspired by Swamiji’s life and message, some devotees had planned to start an institution in Dhaka. Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Dhaka is an outcome of Swamiji’s visit to this part of the sub-continent. This Centre in Dhaka actually came into existence in 1916 following the visit of Swami Brahmananda and Swami Premananda, both direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna and brother disciples of Swami Vivekananda. This Centre, therefore, upholds and propagates over a century the message of Sri Ramakrishna and puts into reality the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. It has proved its meaningful existence by serving people at large irrespective of color and creed and has been serving the people in the fields of education, healthcare and natural calamities. Besides serving in the field of spirituality and religion, it has served over the decades to build a bridge of unity and harmony. During the War of Liberation and after the Birth of Bangladesh, the Centre played a vital and fundamental role in creating a new country and a new generation with the aim of a unified nation and a movement.
The Centre always aims at creating and consolidating a new field of amity, harmony and peace in Bangladesh. The message of Vedanta, the message of divinity in man, harmony of religions and work is worship so powerfully broadcast by Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda and implemented by the Holy Mother Sarada Devi in her own life and action, serve as its source of inspiration and guiding principles. The activities of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Dhaka, move with exemplary strength and dynamism leading the new country to a new goal of progress and prosperity.
